Design and Dimensions (ASME B16.9)

• Types of Reducers:
  • Concentric: Symmetrical shape with a central axis, used in straight pipelines where flow direction is uniform.
  • Eccentric: Asymmetrical with a flat or sloped side, minimizing air/gas entrapment in horizontal liquid lines (e.g., to prevent "water hammer").
• Size Range:
  • NPS (Nominal Pipe Size) from 1/2" to 48", with wall thicknesses conforming to Schedule 5S, 10S, 40S, 80S, etc.
• Pressure Ratings:
  • Aligned with ASME B16.5 flange classes (150#, 300#, 600#, etc.), with maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) dependent on material and temperature. For example:
    • 304 stainless steel at 300# class: ~435 psi at 20°C.
