Seamless tubes are produced via hot or cold working processes followed by heat treatment (annealing) to meet mechanical properties.
Welded tubes (covered under A268 but not applicable to seamless) require proper heat treatment after welding.
Annealing is required at temperatures sufficient to dissolve carbides and ensure corrosion resistance (typically 815-900°C (1500-1650°F) followed by rapid cooling or air cooling).
Hydrostatic or Nondestructive Electric Test (NDE) - Each tube must be tested.
Flattening, Flaring, or Reverse Flattening Test - Required for welded tubes (not mandatory for seamless unless specified).
Hardness, Tensile, and Corrosion Tests - As per buyer's requirements.
Outside Diameter (OD) & Wall Thickness - Must conform to ASTM A268 dimensional standards (e.g., ASME B36.19M for stainless steel tubes).
Length - Typically supplied in random or fixed lengths as agreed upon.
TP430 offers good resistance to:
organic acids, and mild corrosive environments.
Poor resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking (compared to austenitic grades like 304/316).
