Classifications

ASTM A106:
Divided into three grades based on chemical composition and mechanical properties:
- Grade A: Lower carbon content, suitable for moderate temperature and pressure environments.
- Grade B: Higher carbon content than Grade A, with better strength, suitable for higher pressure applications.
- Grade C: Rarely used, designed for specific high-temperature requirements.
All grades are seamless.

ASTM A53:
Classified by manufacturing method and application:
- Type S: Seamless pipes.
- Type F: Furnace-butt welded pipes (low-pressure applications).
- Type E: Electric-resistance welded (ERW) pipes, widely used for fluid transportation.
Also divided into Grade A and Grade B (similar to A106, with Grade B having higher strength).

Nominal Diameter (DN): 

Ranges from DN10 (10.2 mm OD) to DN600 (610 mm OD), with DN15-DN300 common for structural use.

Wall Thickness (WT): 

For hot-finished pipes, WT ranges 2.3 mm-40 mm with ±12.5% tolerance; cold-finished pipes have WT 1.5 mm-12 mm with ±10% tolerance.

Straightness:

≤1 mm/m for cold-finished pipes, ensuring easy installation in structural frameworks.

End Finish:

Plain ends (standard) or beveled ends (for welding), with squareness tolerance ≤1% of OD.
